How to Organize Your Pantry

The pantry is one of the most important parts of a kitchen.

Everyone’s pantry is different and you can tell a lot about a family based on what is in their pantry.

For some people, their pantry is the place to store snacks and non-perishables. For others, it's where dried ingredients stay until they’re needed. The food we put into our pantry reflects our favorite flavors and dietary patterns, even if we don’t follow any particular routines. We store a lot of our food in the pantry and typically, that food can stay stored for a longer period of time. This makes it easy to forget about and often leads to clutter, unless you make a special habit of going through your pantry often. Otherwise, it can start to feel a little overwhelming seeing so much food stacked in a small space, especially if we find ourselves wasting food products more than we’d like to. One of the best ways to prevent these issues is by having an organized pantry! It may sound pretty basic, but taking the time to organize your pantry to fit your and your family’s needs can help to reduce stress and make life simpler.

Setting up your perfect system:

Everyone can benefit from having a well-organized kitchen and especially a well-organized pantry. But that’s not something you can just achieve by moving things around! A common mistake that a lot of people make is trying to product shop before really taking a look at what they’re needs are.

If you’re wanting a system that’s going to keep your things efficiently organized and that’s going to last, the first thing you’ll need to do is take out everything in your pantry and inspect it. Is this something you will use in the future? If not, you don’t need it taking up space in your home!

After you’ve gotten through what items are important to you and your family, assess your pantry’s needs. If you happen to have a lot of small, bagged bags, would a canister be a more efficient way to store these things? It’s important to think about the best ways to maximize your space and organization and then getting the tools you need to help you do that, like the canisters and bins!

Finally, one of the best ways to keep a strong system is to label, label, label! Labelling is great because not only does it help you know what you have and what you need, but it also helps to cement the practices and behaviors that you need to keep your organizational system long term. Labels are a great way to take your organization skills to the next level and they can look pretty snazzy too!

Having an efficient system of organization can help you maintain that sense of security and ease in your life in the long-run and is really important to establish! As we conclude this series, we hope that these tips and items have helped inspire you to explore your own system of organization! If you’re looking for additional tips, feel free to visit our friend Clara at The Home Organized, or if you’ve missed any part of our series, you can access them here!
