If there’s one thing that is certain about planning a wedding…

It is that something is bound to happen that was not part of the plan.

As with planning any sort of event, there are numerous obstacles and unexpected factors at play. It can be very difficult to account for these things, which is why having a trustworthy planner can be key for getting hitched without a hitch. Even so, some things can be so unforeseen and impactful that no amount of planning ahead can ensure everything goes according to plan. A worldwide pandemic is certainly not what most people had in mind at the start of 2020, and for that pandemic to continue as we move into 2022 was something no one could anticipate. This includes all of the couples that got engaged just before or during the pandemic. Unfortunately, the pandemic has put stops to most events that feature large crowds, including weddings, making it difficult to celebrate matrimony without being able to have loved ones attend. For one adorable couple, this unexpected event hindered their wedding day plans much like everyone else. After careful thought, consideration, and some extra planning, they were able to find the perfect solution to their troubles. 

With the closure of their expected reception venue, newlyweds were in search of a space large enough to provide adequate space for their guest list amid the pandemic’s restrictions and guidelines, and that was suitable for their taste and event needs. Luckily, Table & Thyme was able to make the perfect recommendation! 

We were able to make sure this couple’s reception met and exceeded every expectation they had! Though they had decided on a small wedding several months prior to minimize exposure during the pandemic, Table & Thyme catered their reception several months after the ceremony itself. This event featured plenty of space, beautiful scenery, and a comforting menu of gourmet food.

There’s nothing like a generous helping of Southern comfort food!

The first food station we would like to share is one that pays homage to the diverse and comforting cuisine of the South. This table offered honey and thyme cornbread muffins, warm dinner rolls, Southern Caesar salad made with mixed kale, goat cheese crumbles, homemade cornbread croutons, and bacon Caesar dressing, as well as two types of butter for spreading: whipped butter and honey cinnamon butter. 

Hearty starters for a heartwarming event.

Much like the previous table, the entirety of this event’s menu focused on the range of flavors of traditional Southern cuisine. The next featured table was filled with delicious starters and sides including bacon wrapped green bean bundles with a homemade sweet tea glaze, garlic whipped red mashed potatoes, and perfectly crispy fried green tomatoes and fried okra for a tangy, crunchy bite of deliciousness! Guests were also given the option of sinking their teeth into tender beef sliders with homemade barbeque sauce, fried onion straws, and wickles!

Bring on the meat! 

As the main entrée, guests were offered a number of quality meats to choose from, or even to mix and match, as with the spirit of buffet-style food stations! This event featured blackened shrimp served with spicy cowboy butter, crispy sweet heat fried chicken strips, and beef filet served with creamy horseradish sauce. 

A classic end to a perfect evening.

Finally, the best way to wrap up the menu of comfort food was to offer guests the most classic sweet treat of all time: milk and cookies. Each one of Table & Thyme’s Famous Chocolate Chip Cookies was accompanied by a shot of creamy milk to encompass all of the necessary flavors for the sugary snack!  

Though this event may not have been what the newlyweds originally planned for their big day, it still went quite smoothly and even exceeded the expectations of planners and guests alike!
